Mayabeque, Cuba: In Mayabeque almost 75 thousand people suffer from diabetes mellitus, 1,765 of them live in Jaruco.

On the eve of the World Diabetes Mellitus Day, the work staff of the radio station Radio Jaruco  in alliance with the Un tilín mejores project, of the Ronera San José, delivered a message of thanks to the group that has been working for 13 years in the Consultation of Comprehensive Attention to the Diabetic Patient, of the city.

In the context of the date, whose theme this year is La Familia and the Diabetes, Dr. Gisela Rubio Cabrera, who leads this service in the Primary Health Care, stressed the importance of monitoring people suffering from the disease.

They highlighted the accumulated advances in the territory in favor of the quality of life of diabetics, such as the creation of the consultation itself, the first in Cuba of its kind, as well as the successful use of Heberprot-P in the treatment of ulcer of the diabetic foot.

The activity also included patients from the Grandparents' House in the territory, health promoters and other people from the community.
