Representatives of the 193 affiliated nations virtually remembered the 75th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), amid serious threats, hence the calls to reinforce multilateralism, a principle to which Cuba joins.

Precisely, the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, denounced that multilateralism and International Law are threatened by the greatest world power.

It is true that after the period since 1945, humanity can rejoice in avoiding a third world war, as the Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, pointed out.

However, several speakers stressed, in the virtual ceremony centered in New York, that the world remains highly polarized, the imminences of conflicts increase and one country, the United States (USA), wields the stick.

There is the absence in the UN commemoration of President Donald Trump, a sign of his contempt for pact bodies.

The current tenants of the White House made the date coincide with new sanctions on Venezuela and Iran.

The republican magnate himself recently renewed for another year the so-called Law of Commerce with the Enemy, a statute of 1917 that for six decades has supported the economic blockade against Cuba.

Addressing the UN General Assembly, the Cuban Foreign Minister highlighted how the US promotes conflicts, unconventional and commercial wars and imposes severe unilateral coercive measures.

In short, a global tension dangerously associated with a pandemic, ignored by Trump, at the cost of almost 200 thousand lives in his country.

Cuba modestly contributed its professional resources to fight the new coronavirus in almost 40 countries, against the grain of a heinous offensive to discredit the Trump administration.

In this regard, Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the shameless attacks against Cuban medical cooperation and the governments that legitimately request it, thereby restricting the right to health of other nations.

75 years after signing the Charter of the United Nations, the Cuban Foreign Minister specified that it is time to reaffirm the commitment to the principles of International Law.

Let’s multiply cooperation and solidarity; requested Cuba through its representative, the international community should stop the United States’ plans to prevent the realization of that just wish.
