Mayabeque, Cuba: A look at the effects of Covid-19 in this province shows 87 positive cases accumulated, of which 81 are autochthonous and 6 imported. The number of those who acquired the disease within the country increased in recent weeks, essentially due to the outbreaks in Güines and San José de las Lajas.

The Deputy Governor of Mayabeque Manuel Aguiar Lamas, assured that the proximity to provinces such as Havana, Matanzas and Artemisa increases the risk.

Given the circumstances and in a precaution way, the government leadership in the province, in coordination with Public Health, decided to increase the number of isolation centers.

The foci that exist in the province have different dates of emergence, the current ones at the moment of greatest complexity, but this does not imply differentiated treatments.

Taking into account that proximity to Havana, Matanzas and Artemisa, perhaps the cases of Covid-19 in Mayabeque would be higher, but this is not the case due to the quickly action before any suspicion, the cooperation of the population when defining contacts and contacts of contacts, together with the efficient work of public health personnel, young students and other support groups in terms of prevention and pandemic control.
