Díaz-Canel Highlights the Cost of the United States Blockade against Cuba

Havana: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted today that the Island withstood this 2020 the most expensive year in the history of the blockade imposed by the United States for six decades, Prensa Latina publishes.

In his Twitter account, the Antillean president quoted a phrase from the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, which defines the essence of that hostile policy:

?In relation to Cuba there is not only embargo, the embargo is a pious word. We say blockade; but what has happened in relation to Cuba is really an economic war, a political war?, Fidel Castro stated.

Díaz-Canel placed on that social network a link to an article published today by the Granma newspaper on the annual report presented this Thursday by the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, in which he updates the magnitude of the damage of this extraterritorial policy in the daily development and perspective of the Island.

The accounting losses on the Antillean archipelago exceeded five billion dollars in one year, stressed Rodríguez, who affirmed that this siege has worsened since the arrival to power of President Donald Trump.

He also affirmed that the persecution of fuel supplies, sanctions and slander are increasingly perverse.

Whoever wins the elections in the United States (USA), will have to face that the blockade damages Cubans, families, violates human rights and makes travel, visas and family reunification difficult, he said.

Cuba will present to the United Nations General Assembly next May, for the twenty-ninth time, the resolution entitled Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.
