Mayabeque, Cuba: The Secretary General of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, presented the Labor Prowess Flag to the Animal Science Institute (ICA) on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of its foundation.
The general director of the institution, Doctor of Science, José Andrés Díaz Untoria received the banner at the Carlos Marx Theater, where they ratified the commitment and contribution to agricultural sciences, the need for integration with all Universities, entities linked to the sector business, civic organizations and the government.
In this meeting, they awarded for the only time the 80th Anniversary seal to a group of researchers and workers with an outstanding trajectory in the sustainable and resilient development of Cuban livestock to contribute to the economic and social progress of the country.
They also presented the Guillermo Leiva Annual Prize, from the Cuban Association for Animal Production, to the renowned researcher, Doctor of Science María Felicia Díaz Sánchez, for her outstanding scientific career, dedication, commitment, professionalism and human values.
On the 55th anniversary of the founding of this center, the group is committed to biotechnology to transform waste into products of high nutritional value and to obtain new varieties that contribute to biodiversity and to adaptation and mitigation of the effects of change. climate.
Advances in biochemical, physiological, genetic, statistical and computer studies, the system approach with the closure of the research cycle, together with a strong institutional management work will allow a greater productive, economic, environmental and social impact of the results of the ICA.
This institute was created by Fidel to develop Cuban livestock and the potentialities of science, integrated, to increase the production of animal feed and advance towards the sustainable intensification of livestock activity.
