November 26 was established in Cuba as the Day of the Economist and the Accountant, since on the same date in 1959 Commander Ernesto Che Guevara was appointed president of the National Bank of Cuba.
This date is a propitious occasion to pay tribute to those who wisely handle numbers and accounts, and dedicate their professional work to the administration and effective control of assets or to teaching related subjects in polytechnic institutes and universities. Without economy there is no logical basis for the development, production and efficient execution of services, the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba publishes.
For this reason, in those who are dedicated to the economic world, the country has a strength that must be even better used, valued and taken into account, based on the knowledge and performance they have for the analysis that the accounting and financial controls require.
Cuban economists are at a time of great importance, their work and knowledge are essential for the proper implementation of the guidelines approved in the VI Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and to strengthen, as necessary, internal control in the centers.
The Economist’s Day will be a reason to remember the Heroic Guerrilla. Nobody like him left so outlined the economic line that the country had to always follow. Taking up, studying and applying Che’s economic thought, in its entirety, would be the best tribute to those who understood, at such an early time, that the economy is the essential basis of society and of any social and political process.
