Havana: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, indicated extending the use of the Cuban antiviral Nasaferón to vulnerable groups as part of the protocols to combat Covid-19, Prensa Latina publishes.

During a meeting with scientists in the country, the president received an update on the positive results of this drug (nasal version of Interferon alpha 2-b) after being administered to health personnel on the red line and in nursing homes.

The specialists explained the progress of the four Cuban vaccine candidates against Covid-19 and stressed that Soberana 02 is the most advanced of all.

In addition, the forecasting models for the incidence of the new coronavirus in the country were analyzed in the face of the complex scenario with 1,11 active cases, largely due to imported cases.

Cuba presented the day before a new record of positives in one day with 142, before which the experts consider that the trend may be towards an increase since the conditions exist for it.

For this reason, the authorities and scientists again urged to comply with hygienic-sanitary measures, especially respecting the quarantine regarding the arrival of visitors from abroad.

The Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal, stressed that Havana presents a complex scenario, mainly due to cases originating outside the country.

The authorities established an epidemiological alert for Artemisa and Mayabeque due to the high incidence in those provinces, because with this behavior the Western maintains the most critical epidemiological situation at the national level.
