Mayabeque, Cuba: The Leonardo Acosta In Memoriam International Jazz Colloquium in its 16th edition is dedicated to the prestigious musician from Mayabeque, Chucho Valdés, for his 80th birthday
The event will be held as part of the International Jazz Plaza Festival in the Cuban capital from January 19 to 24, 2021 with a representation of renowned exponents of this musical genre, according to the organizers, Prensa Latina informed.
The academic program of the event includes theoretical spaces for the exchange between artists, tributes to teachers, and topics on discography, the Cuban music industry and the development of the international market.
They will also perform musical presentations, concerts, master classes, and conferences that intertwine cultures through jazz.
The colloquium constitutes a platform for the current generations of jazz players for whom Chucho Valdés and other renowned interpreters are a reference.
The International Jazz Plaza Festival is an opportunity to search for diverse and new perspectives with interdisciplinary approaches and the development of initiatives in theoretical events, the projection of audiovisuals and the presentation of phonograms.
