Inauguran nueva planta liofilizadora en Centro Nacional de Biopreparados.

Mayabeque, Cuba: A new lyophilized plant that will contribute to strengthening the production of drugs for national medical protocols and for export was inaugurated at the National Center for Biopreparations, BIOCEN by its Spanish initials, Radio Reloj reports.

Freeze-drying is the process of drying drugs, which allows the development of more stable and longer-lasting drugs, the Director of Research and Development of BIOCEN, Alexis Labrada, explained.

The lyophilized plant is intended for pilot-scale production, a different process from those that have been developed up to now in the scientific center.

Labrada argued that the plant will be able to carry out pharmaceutical development projects for lyophilized drugs to which BIOCEN gives productive output, such as the therapeutic vaccines Valergen, Interferon, Heberprot P and Surfacen, among others.
