Mayabeque, Cuba: Meat production is a priority for the agricultural sector of Mayabeque, a province with high potential to grow on this front.

The workers in the industry guarantee the nutrients destined for the animal mass in the different scenarios.

According to the deputy director of agriculture in the demarcation, Engineer Eduardo Alonso Rivero, this year they plan to plant more than 6 thousand 59 hectares.

“Despite the problems with the seed during the past calendar, the peasants overcomplished the plan, there is no livestock without a food base, hence its importance,” said the manager.

The scientific pole of the province contributes to this purpose and among the centers the Institute of Animal Science (ICA) stands out for its contributions to the sector.

Mayabeque also develops aquaculture, as another source for the meat production program. There are 102 micro dams in the territory and this year they obtained 97 tons of fishery products.
