Azerbaijan: The eighteenth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (Mnoal) concludes today in the capital of Azerbaijan, a country that has the task of coordinating until 2022 the future of this group, Cubasí publishes.
The paths to be traveled will be contained in the Baku Declaration, which will be adopted by the consensus of the majority of representatives of the 120 nations of the Mnoal, which represent almost two thirds of the member states of the United Nations Organization.
In advance one breathes unity around the defense of the principles under which the Movement began to articulate in the Bandung Conference in Indonesia, 1955. Also those adopted at the Belgrade meeting in1961, which marks the birth of the Mnoal.
With that purpose spoke several leaders the day before. Among them, the presidents of Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Algeria, Pakistan, Namibia, Venezuela and the head of state of the country hosting the summit and who will preside over the Movement for the next three years.
The defense of multilateralism, dialogue, negotiation and cooperation for conflict resolution are principles that must be endorsed in the final document, and in other pronouncements.
Also the rejection of foreign interference, unilateral and coercive measures; the defense of the sovereignty of the States, theirintegrity and independence, are pillars of the NAM.
Another claim repeated here is to reform the United Nations Security Council, in order to make it more democratic, transparent and in line with world reality.
And surely it will be among the demands and commitments adopted in Baku to seek a better and equitable world and in defense of the environment, when the aftermath of climate change endangers the future of small island states and affects numerous Noal countries.
