Mayabeque, Cuba: This October 10, Cuba will once again live a historic day, with the election in the National Assembly (ANPP) of its President, Vice President and Secretary, of the other members of the State Council, and of the President and Vice President of the Republic.
On that date, the revolutionary virtue of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the Father of the Fatherland, is multiplied when we celebrate 151 years of that deed that began in La Demajagua, that October 10, 1868, which marks the beginning of our struggles for the independence against Spanish colonialism.
Enough reasons Bonifacio Byrne had to ensure: “He spread the vivid seeds that are germinating today. As a prophet he could announce excellent wonders. ”
These wonders to which the poet referred to protect today, in the green alligator, the smile of the children and the tranquility of the families, genuine conquests of the people with the free enjoyment of education and health, the creation of true cultural values for young people and the guarantee of a healthy life for the elderly.
Strengths, which for 60 years have made us a firm, undeniable, authentic nation.
Our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the occasion of the centenary of this significant feat, said “… in Cuba there has only been one: the one that Carlos Manuel de Céspedes started on October 10, 1868. The same one that our people are carrying out in these moments "
Certainly we are privileged those born on the same ground where Céspedes and Fidel gave everything for the Homeland, our beautiful island, the Cuba of the revolutionaries. That distant October, separated by more than a century and a half of existence, brings us to the present a deep feeling of Cubania, its legacy unites us and identifies us.
At that time many people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds such as peasants, small producers, blacks, free mulattos and slaves, joined forces and followed Céspedes to support a heroic struggle, for the good of all, even if it cost them their lives.
Today, in the same way, the Cuban people say yes to Cuba, denying any interference, resisting every blow of the enemy, with unconditional support to President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The beginning of the war for independence was accompanied by the Revolution Program, known as the October 10 Manifesto. This document constituted a guide for the emancipatory process.
At present, the new Constitution, written with the contribution of each one of us, is a continuation of that revolutionary program of our emancipatory wars, and constitutes the instrument that leads the life of the country, directed towards a better future.
The sounds of La Demajagua’s bell are still heard, now, summoning to the defense of the conquered freedom and exalting the meaning of the Flag of the Lone Star, the Shield of the Royal Palm and the Anthem of Bayamo, which as Fidel said «They represent all the struggles, (...) That is, they do not represent a part of the story, they represent the whole story».
