Mayabeque, Cuba_ Several actions are being carried out in Quivicán to salute the 64th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada’s Garrison and the 350th anniversary of the founding of that town.  

The first phase of the Boulevard, the childrens’ playground, and the Municipal Attorney's Office, are part of the social works inaugurated in the territory.

This was stated by the head of the Administration Council, Odel Oliver, who stressed that salute those celebrations they met goals of social benefit.

This is the case of the remodeling and comfort that now exists in the local cinema, the House of Culture Nieves Xenes, the Grandparents’ Home and some offices of the doctor and the nurse of the family.

La Colmenita, from Madruga, the group Teatron Lunatico, from Güines and the Guerrilla, formed by art instructor of the Brigade José Martí joined the celebrations with performances in the population settlement Pablo Noriega.

Quivicán pays homage to the Gesta de Moncada, who had two assailants in the municipality: Geraldo Sosa, a native of Güiro Marrero and Angel Sánchez from La SAlud, both deceased.

Local poets such as Pedro Delgado (El Sinsonte del Camino), Elena Blanco and writer Doris Quintero, among others, cultivated decimas based on the events of that July 26.
