Mayabeque, Cuba: The Presidents of the Popular Councils must be leaders who control, check and have a comprehensive diagnosis of their environment to be able to exercise their functions and solve the problems of the community, the President of the Cuban Parliament, Estaban Lazo Hernández, said at the opening of the work meeting he held with the 52 presidents of those government structures in Mayabeque.
"For us this opportunity was very important to transfering them everything that we are carrying out in terms of policy, from the blockade that the United States government has been sponsoring, the Helms-Burton Law, economic problems that exist and the ideas that we have to get rid of them, we have to work on everything related to defense. "
At the meeting, the president of the People's Power Assembly, Tamara Valido Benítez, offered an overview of the work system of the popular councils in the demarcation with the strategic lines to perfect their missions.
Regarding the priority tasks of the country: defense and the economy, the president of the parliament Lazo Hernández insisted on the urgency to reinforce self-supply programs based on the initiatives of the territories, taking into account the complex situation of the country.
In this way he highlighted the potential of Mayabeque for its growth.
