Moscow: The Cuban president, Miguel DÃaz-Canel Bermúdez, thanked Belarus for its support in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States on the island and highlighted the prospects for expanding economic-commercial cooperation with this nation, Prensa Latina publishes.
Speaking at the official conversations at the level of delegations in the Palace of Independence, DÃaz-Canel Bermúdez highlighted, specifically, the inclusion of the issue of the blockade in the intervention of the Belarusian Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei, in the General Assembly of the Organization of the United Nations (UN).
The Cuban president referred to the resurgence in recent times of the US economic siege and its financial persecution against Cuba, with punitive measures to prevent the entry of fuel into his country.
In this regard, he explained that such aggressive actions by the United States forced internal measures to minimize damage to the country and its population, as well as to overcome these difficulties.
DÃaz-Canel Bermúdez highlighted the strong political dialogue between the two nations, among which there are points of agreement on the international agenda. We see as threats the unilateral sanctions of some states and we fight for the independence of nations, he said.
The Cuban president transmitted to the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the invitation to visit the island.
On his side, the host president referred to the potential for cooperation in economies that are completed with one another and highlighted Cuba's potential in the medical field and the possibilities of expanding that line of collaboration.
In addition, it was pronounced by the elaboration of a Road Map on bilateral issues that allow consolidating a strategic partnership between both nations.
