United Nations: Despite the coercion of the United States, the international community once again unites to demand the end of the US blockade against Cuba, an issue that today occupies a vote in the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN), Prensa Latina publishes.
The day before, some 30 member states of the United Nations and representatives of regional organizations, such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 plus China, reaffirmed their rejection of this economic, commercial and financial encirclement, and called for an end to such a mechanism.
Diplomats and senior representatives from different countries condemned the increase in the hostile policy and the unilateral coercive measures of the United States against Cuba.
In his interventions the denunciation of the extraterritorial nature of the blockade was repeated again and again, as well as the resurgence of the aggressions of Washington against the greater of the Antilles.
Similarly, the representatives emphasized that the US fence is the main obstacle for Cuba to achieve sustainable development and is a violation of the human rights of an entire people.
On Thursday, more countries will take the podium to the United Nations General Assembly to make their voices felt, according to the planned agenda.
Then, for the twenty-eighth consecutive occasion, the vote on the draft resolution 'Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba will take place.'
Since 1992, the UN General Assembly approves that resolution every year, which makes clear the rejection of the international community to that policy.
Washington imposed the blockade against Cuba almost six decades ago and in that time, the encirclement has caused quantifiable damages for more than 922 thousand 630 million dollars, official figures indicate.
But the human damages produced by this genocidal policy are incalculable, according to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno RodrÃguez.
The Foreign Minister, upon his arrival at the UN headquarters in New York on Monday, also denounced that the US authorities exert strong pressures and blackmails so that countries change their stance against the blockade, especially Latin Americans.
Far from responding to the call of the international community, which for more than two decades has almost unanimously adopted the resolution calling for the lifting of the blockade, the United States performs maneuvers to hinder its adoption and erode the voting pattern, RodrÃguez said.
Cuba knows that it has the unanimous support of the Latin American peoples and the planet, and hopes that no government will submit to the opinions of Washington, he stressed.
He also recalled the marked failure of the US representation in the UN the previous year, trying to amend and change the nature of the resolution.
