Havana_ The 60 percent of the homes damaged in this capital by the tornado of January 27 have already been restored. The announcement was made yesterday during a meeting headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, whose details are reported by the press today.

According to the Granma newspaper, the president acknowledged the advances in the recovery and insisted on the need to constantly evaluate what is being done and what is still pending.

The powerful weather phenomenon caused nearly eight thousand damages in the housing infrastructure of the municipalities Regla, Guanabacoa and Diez de Octubre, the most hit in the tragic Sunday, when several people died and dozens suffered injuries.

Authorities in Havana said at the meeting that from the 804 total houses destroyed by the impact of the tornado, 101 have been totally restored.

In March it is expected to conclude more than 200, Reynaldo García, president of the Government in the capital said.

According to the official, everything that has been executed so far has been based on the principle that the works are of quality and that the buildings are in a better constructive state than before.

For his part, the first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party, Luis Antonio Torres, stressed the incorporation of families to the construction work from the first moment in which the specialized brigades began their work.
