Havana_ Cuba today promotes self and foreign investment in the tourism sector, one of the most dynamic in the national economy, Prensa Latina reports.

The Development Plan of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) until the year 2030 provides for the completion of three thousand 805 rooms throughout the country and recover or improve five thousand to put into operation, according to José Daniel, general director of development of that portfolio.

Currently, we are promoting self and foreign investment in terms of new housing capabilities, said the official, in important areas such as Varadero, where there is investment of the Real Estate Company Almest and also of the Mintur real estate company, Inmotur. Other investments are also being prepared in this destination, he said.
Daniel explained that new hotels are built in the center of the country. Two with mixed companies and two others in the peninsula of Ancon in Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus: the Meliá Ancón and the Iberostar Ancón. The latter belongs to the joint venture Iberostar Trinidad, which will also make an investment to revitalize and expand the hotel of the same name.

With the intention of achieving a diversity of products throughout the Island and take advantage of its natural potential, other investments are made for new hotels in the peninsula of Ramón and in Guardalavaca, in Holguín. Likewise, Cayo Cruz in Camagüey begins to develop as a tourist pole, the report said.

We are reevaluating our strategies because the product of city, heritage and culture is increasingly demanded, and that we have to balance it with that other product for which we are recognized in the world that is sun and beach, the specialist emphasized.

He also talked about investments in the extra-hotel section and the expansion of connectivity.

This is an activity (extra-hotel) in which we work with great force and we think that this year's preparation will serve to begin a real launch linked to theme and water parks, marinas, cabarets and other spaces, he said.

He also stressed that the Mintur carries out, together with the Ministry of Communications, a National Development Plan that expects to achieve one hundred percent of Wi-Fi coverage in all tourism facilities.
