The Federation of Cuban Workers (CTC) and all national trade unions convoke our entire people to a massive march to celebrate International Workers day, May 1, under the banner of Unity, Commitment, and Victory.

We will celebrate May Day immersed in the battle for greater economic efficiency that today constitutes our fundamental task, conscious that the contribution of workers is decisive, and that this goal is key to advancing the country’s strategic development programs, to meeting the people’s needs, and improving working conditions and wages.

This celebration of the world proletariat has special meaning for us this year, following the overwhelming Yes vote for our new Constitution, a clear reaffirmation of the decision made by Cuban men and women to preserve ad perfect our socialism. We are especially motivated, as well, by the proximity of the CTC’s XXI Congress, where important agreements will be reached to successfully confront the challenges facing workers and trade unions across the country.

To such great reasons, this year are added the commemorations of the anniversaries 60 of the triumph of the Revolution, 150 of the Constitution of Guáimaro and 60 of the creation of the Revolutionary National Militias, together with the bicentenary of the birth of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. They are transcendent pages that exalt the history of the country and strengthen our struggle traditions.

In the compact and colorful parades, rallies, acts in the squares and towns across the country, the demand for the cessation of the criminal and genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba that is now worsening will be multiplied. We will reaffirm the decision to be always alert and prepared to defend the Homeland as the greatest honor and supreme duty of every Cuban.

Compatriots:

The celebration of this day will be characterized by patriotism, joy, individual and collective recognition of avant-garde experiences, as well as the unwavering commitment of the workers to the sustained progress of the process of updating the Cuban economic and social model, which by sovereign decision we are building.

We will highlight the example and teachings of Lázaro Peña González, Jesús Menéndez Larrondo, José María Pérez, Alfredo López and other worker leaders who identify our unions. They are flag and represent the high values of the Cuban worker.

We will ratify our support for the brotherly peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, today besieged by the offensive of the right and the interventionist escalation of the United States government, supported by a huge media campaign based on lies, with the clear objective of destabilizing the progressive social projects, in particular the threatened Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, whose heroic people are determined to defend their sovereignty and self-determination at whatever price is necessary.

We will continue articulating with the different social actors the battle for the political, economic, social and cultural integration of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

Once again, we express our solidarity with the trade union organizations that fight for the real workers' rights in the world, facing the hegemonic power of the employers and the ever-present exploitation of the capitalist regime.

Cuban workers:

This May Day we will give another forceful demonstration of the indestructible unity of our heroic people, together with its Party and its Revolution; we will demonstrate the commitment contracted by the workers and we will demonstrate to the world, once again, our capacity for struggle and firm conviction that we will always achieve victory.

Long live the International Workers Day!

Long live Fidel and Raúl!

Until victory forever
