Havana_ The president of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), María Fernanda Espinosa, will arrive in Cuba today, where she will develop a broad program of activities, Prensa Latina reports.

Espinosa's official visit, scheduled until April 6, includes a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and a conversation with students from the Higher Institute of International Relations, located in Havana.

In addition, she will pay tribute to the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, in the memorial erected in his honor in the capital.

According to the agenda, the former Ecuadorian Foreign Minister will make a tour of the Historic Center of Havana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.

In recent statements to Prensa Latina, the high official praised Cuba's advances in the empowerment of women.

After meeting in New York with the secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women, Teresa Amarelle, Espinosa said that it was an encouraging meeting because not all countries are experiencing the great moment the Caribbean island is going through as it relates to the role of women.
