Havana: The Cuban deputies begin today working in the ten permanent committees of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, Parliament), with the analysis of essential issues for the economic and social development of Cuba, Prensa Latina reports.

At Havana Convention Center, the legislators will keep working until Friday morning, and on Saturday 13th will take place the second extraordinary session of the ANPP in its IX Legislature with the debate on the status of the priorities of the Island among other topics.

During the first day, the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs will review, among other topics, the results of the analysis of the deputies on the draft legislation on Fisheries and National Symbols.

In addition, they will examine the situation of the writing of the draft Electoral Law, as the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Raúl Castro, said in his speech at the solemn session of the Parliament in which the new Magna Carta was proclaimed.

In the commission of Economic Affairs, the minister of that sector, Alejandro Gil, will approach the elaboration of the national program of economic and social development until the year 2030.

Meanwhile, the head of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, will speak at the Health and Sports group about the epidemiological situation, the academic training program in medical sciences, and the results of the work of the sector during this period of the year.

Officials of the Cuban Foreign Ministry will present in the International Relations Commission a report about the increase of the aggressiveness of the United States against the Caribbean nation, mainly regarding the application by Washington of Title III of the Helms-Burton Law with the objective of overthrowing the Cuban Revolution.

In general, parliamentarians will know information related to food production, the march of the 2018-2019 sugar harvest, the national program of housing construction and the fight against illegalities and corruption.

The Ministers of Agriculture and Construction, Gustavo Rodríguez and René Mesa respectively as well as the vice president of the Council of State and comptroller general of the Republic, Gladys Bejerano, among other authorities, will render account to the representatives of the Cuban people.

The Minister of Internal Commerce, Betsy Díaz; and of Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo, will talk about the behavior of non-state management forms, among other aspects related to the management of their areas.

The policies approved in the activity of science, technology and the university, and work in the cultural sector, will also be addressed by Cuban parliamentarians.
