Havana: Cuban Deputies will analyze today the National Plan of Economic and Social Development projected until 2030, during the third extraordinary period of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, Parliament) in its IX Legislature, Prensa Latina reports.
At the meeting, based at the Havana’s Convention Center, parliamentarians will also discuss the implementation of the Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution.
The meeting is held after two days of debates in the 10 permanent committees of the Parliament and a solemn and historic session of the Assembly, in which the new Constitution of the Republic was proclaimed with a speech by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Raúl Castro.
Priority issues for the Island, such as programs for food production and housing construction, as well as actions against corruption and illegalities were analyzed during the meetings of the legislative work groups.
The deputies reviewed the results of the analysis about the draft legislation on Fisheries and National Symbols, the behavior of non-state management forms and other aspects.
They examined the growing aggressiveness of the United States against the progressive governments of Latin America, particularly against the Caribbean nation with the resurgence of the blockade through the implementation of the Helms-Burton Act.
The Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, who participated in several committees in the two days, insisted on the need for alternatives and the use of scientific potential in agriculture with a view to achieving food sovereignty.
He also called for redoubling efforts in the construction of houses, under the premises of order, legality and transparency.
In addition, he called for work in local development programs, taking advantage of the potential of each municipality, its human resources and avoiding bureaucratic obstacles.
In the same way, the representatives of the Cuban people showed their support to the Venezuelans and their president Nicolás Maduro before the onslaught of Washington against the Bolivarian Revolution.
Also, in a statement, they condemned the political, judicial and mediatic persecution against the former Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and rejected his unjust incarceration.
