Havana: The XXI Congress of the Cuban Workers' Confederation concludes today in this capital with the presentation of the National Council and the executive secretariat of that organization, Prensa Latina reports.

The day before, the delegates discussed the economic and financial management (2014-2018) and the draft statutes at the Convention Center.

When intervening in the penultimate day, the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), José Ramón Machado Ventura, invited to work with the purpose of organizing workers from the non-state sector.

The affiliation of workers in the non-state sector is important. It is vital to incorporate them, as many of them were unionized in work centers, Machado Ventura said.

He stressed the need to serve this segment, whose activity is important for the development of the Cuban economy.

It is important to incorporate non-state workers to have them within the trade union movement with the same force as any other, the second secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC, stressed.

The unit, he said, is an essential instrument to achieve this goal and called for joining forces for the benefit of the trade union movement because of its impact on Cuban society.

Machado Ventura stressed the importance of fostering direct contact with workers and reaching them, listening to them and addressing their concerns.

Inaugurated over the weekend, 52 foreign delegates from 30 trade union organizations from 16 countries in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa also participate at the XXI Congress of the CTC.
