Havana_ The Park of the Caribbean Heroes was inaugurated this Friday in Havana in honor of personalities that symbolize the solidarity and courage of the peoples of the Caribbean in their struggles against colonialism and for independence, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
In the act, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rogelio Sierra said that the monument recognizes the commitment of the martyrs who fought for a free Caribbean and will serve to remember the spirit and conviction of those men who inspire the new generations.
Sierra recalled that fate makes coincide two historical events in the area: the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the first of January, 1959, and the Haitian Revolution, the first antislavery in Latin America, which was also the first of January, but of 1804.
For her part, the ambassador of Granada in the largest island of the Antilles, Theresa Clair Clarice Charles, thanked the construction and design of the monument, which she described as an imperishable symbol of historical relations.
