Santa Clara, Cuba: The director of the Santa Clara International Airport, Omar Andrés Gil, affirmed that the installation, affected this Sunday afternoon by a severe local storm, will remain closed until further notice.
According to Radio Reloj, the airport official informed that the flights that were due to depart from the Abel SantamarÃa Airport on Monday, will leave from Varadero and Cienfuegos, while 800 square meters of roofs damaged by the winds will be repaired at the aerodrome.
"So far 11 electrical circuits in the city of Santa Clara remained without service, however, four brigades of the Electric Company are working to repair the damages," according to the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in that province, Osnay Miguel, who immediately went to the scene of the events.
The Institute of Meteorology reports that on Sunday afternoon there were severe weather events, with hail fall and strong winds in gusts in several locations in the west and center of the country.
