Havana: The president of the National Assembly of the Popular Power of Cuba (Parliament) and the State Council, Esteban Lazo, will receive today the head of the Russian Federation Council (Senate), Valentina Matvienko, Prensa Latina publishes.

Matvienko will complete an intense work program, which includes the participation in central activities on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana.

The presidents of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, and Constitutional Legislation and State Formation of that legislative body accompany the Russian Senate leader.

The first vice-president of the Committee of the State Duma of International Affairs, which in turn chairs the Russia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, among other important Russian legislators is also traveling with Matvienko.
