Havana, Cuba_ Cuba and the Dominican Republic signed the General Framework for Negotiating a Partial Scope Agreement, which will deepen the economic, commercial and cooperation relations between the two Caribbean nations, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

The instrument was signed at a ceremony by Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado and Cuban Vice Minister Ileana Núñez Mordoche, representing the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz.

Vargas said it is an unprecedented initiative in the bilateral relationship, which will concrete the way for two nations united by strong historical and cultural ties to build a relationship for the benefit of their people.

This Framework is intended to establish a route or negotiation schedule to sign an eventual Partial Scope Agreement that contributes to the complementation of the economy of both countries and the use of productive capacities, he said.

He added that the instrument is a firm and safe step to promote trade cooperation and foster a favorable business climate.

"We are convinced that this instrument that we signed today may become an agreement between brothers, which will bring a better future and prosperity," Vargas concluded.
