Virginio Morales, the main specialist of the branch, said that the incorporation of organic matter, calcium carbonate and other elements to contribute to the conservation and improvement of soils are currently the center of the attention of the accounts for the producers.

For the stage, the largest producer of the leaf in the country will increase the areas dedicated to the blond tobacco with which they hope to cover 400 hectares, from the insertion of the municipalities of Pinar del Río and San Luis to the project Virginia that advances in Consolación del Sur

The harvesting of the leaf continues in the fields where they report more than 26 million bushes harvested, of the 30 million anticipated, in spite of the strong drought and there are the conditions to fulfill the economic technical plan ascending to 19 thousand tons of tobacco destined to the national industry.
