Ciego de Ávila__ The corridors or public corridors that surround the wide and straight streets, are accomplices of the coming and going of Ciego de Avila inhabitants and those who visit the city, located about 430 kilometers east of Havana, hence its name of the city of portals.

It is one of the youngest cities in Cuba, recently achieved the 140 years of being granted the category of municipality, Prensa Latina reports.

Located in the central-eastern region of the Island, in the calcareous plain of Júcaro to Morón, it is a modern city, although in its historical center, formed by about 50 blocks, there are buildings with colonial features.

The vernacular architecture coupled to the free interpretation of the classicism of the eclectic period prevails exactly in its central part.

In its traditional buildings there are specific examples of other influences such as Arabic, Andalusian, Baroque and Art Deco, which prevail in neoclassical columns of varied design, decorated bars and roofs of Creole tiles.

Today the city exhibits a renewed urban atmosphere with a modern boulevard built at the end of 2008, in the central Independencia Street, along four blocks, converted into a place of great attraction for the social life of the city, it is a confluence of commerce and the recreation of people of all ages.

A little further from the center are the Alameda de la Locución, the City Park and Avenida de las Flores, the result of a Urban Reanimation Project.

The flourishing of the city with a modern and harmonious environment, protects both the environment and the social interactions.
