Guantanamo, Cuba_ Together with the residents of the municipality of Caimanera, a border town with the US naval base on Cuban soil, the pacifists attending the International Seminar for Peace will issue today the final declaration of this meeting, Prensa Latina reports.

About 300 participants in the event that also advocates the abolition of foreign military enclaves travel to this area where they will know details about the feeling of this population that for more than 100 years has lived with the military presence, which violates the national sovereignty and the international law.

Since May 4, the participants gathered to discuss and address different issues related to the increase in the number of military bases in the world, whose objectives are diversified and currently focus on river sources and areas rich in natural resources.

According to MarĂa do Socorro Gomes, president of the World Council for Peace, this international meeting is also a space for solidarity with the Island, as peacekeepers maintain the denunciation of the illegality of the military base on Cuban soil and the claim for its return to its rightful owner.
