Granma, Cuba__ With an artistic gala, the people from Granma will pay tribute to the heroine Celia Sánchez Manduley, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of her birth, the Cuban News Agency publishes.
According to Marbelis Terri Pérez, director of the Casa Natal Museum of Sánchez Manduley, they will perform an event for the anniversary to recognize the best woman producer in the country.
"As it is traditional, at night there will be an artistic activity dedicated to the so-called Heroine de la Sierra and Llano, in the spacious courtyard of the institution, with the participation of local artists and numerous guests," Terri Perez added.
In addition, a visit is planned by provincial prosecutors, who will be able to tour the eight exhibition halls of the construction, declared a National Monument, in January 1990, which includes personal objects of the outstanding fighter and her relatives, especially the mother, Acacia Manduley Alsina and the father, Manuel Sánchez Silveira, who were decisive in her formation.
She stressed that during the last few weeks they have been promoting different activities for the birthday of Celia, also known as the Most Autochthonous Flower of the Revolution, who joined the struggle in the Sierra Maestra and was a faithful assistant to Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the last stage of the struggle of the Cuban people and eternal Commander in Chief.
Celia, the fruit-loving girl, especially the mamoncillo, criolla plum, tamarind and mango, who was then the coordinator of the July 26th Movement on the coast of Granma, lived for several years in Media Luna, before moving to the nearby city of Manzanillo and then to Pilón, in 1940.
One of the rooms of the museum includes objects and photos of Fidel's visit to that facility on December 18, 1986, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the reunion of some of the Granma's expeditioners in Cinco Palmas, a mountainous site in that municipality .
Due to the date, numerous activities are carried out throughout the province, including colloquiums, outstanding women's awards and exchanges with the young people about the life and work of those who died on January 11, 1980 and is considered one of the most outstanding figures of the Cuban Revolution.
