La Habana_ A new metallic coin with a value of 5 Cuban pesos will be circulating since July 3rd, this year, in a gradual form throughout the national territory according to the Central Bank, the Cuban news agency reports.

The coinage that is issued has the following characteristics: Bimetallic coin of 24.70 millimeters of diameter, with silver border, gold center and rib split groove.

Obverse: In the golden center and in relief the effigy of Antonio Maceo and the denomination in number 5, with the word PESOS and in the silver ring the legend PATRIA O MUERTE, with year of coinage 2016.

Reverse: the national shield in the golden center and in the silver ring, the legend REPUBLIC OF CUBA, with the denomination CINCO PESOS in letters.

The 5 Cuban pesos currently in circulation are still in force.
