Moscow_ Russia reiterated its rejection of US attempts to foment a coup in Venezuela and considered that threats against that legitimate government violate the Charter of the United Nations (UN), the Foreign Ministry said today, according to information published by Prensa Latina.
In a telephone conversation with the US Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, his Russian counterpart, Serguei Lavrov, assured that such actions constitute a flagrant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State.
Caracas denounced this day that was the victim of a new cyber-attack to its electricity distribution network.
At the time, Russia said that the equipment used by Venezuela was produced in Canada, so that country knows the vulnerabilities of the energy system of the South American country.
Pompeo, who started the initiative of the talk, was interested in analyzing the situation in Venezuela, amid the economic siege imposed by Washington to that country, and in Syria, highlights a statement from the aforementioned Russian agency.
Lavrov also stressed that the United States' intention to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights leads to an outright violation of international law, the text said.
Such a position of the White House prevents the solution of the Syrian crisis and aggravates the dispute throughout the Middle East, said the Russian diplomat, according to the Foreign Ministry document.
Referring to the situation in Ukraine, Lavrov drew attention to the unacceptable involvement of Washington in supporting Kiev by sabotaging the implementation of the Minsk agreements to solve Ukraine's internal conflict.
After verifying the differences in the positions of Russia and the United States, the heads of the diplomacy of both nations agreed to continue the contacts and the exchange of evaluations on the aforementioned topics, indicates the notification.
