United Nations_ The Security Council of the United Nations (UN) analyzes today again the situation in the Middle East, after dedicating yesterday a session to the growing tensions in the occupied Palestinian Territory, Prensa Latina reports.
For this reason, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolai Mladenov, demanded maximum restraint to prevent an escalation in the Gaza Strip and avoid catastrophic consequences.
During his intervention in the Security Council, he demanded immediate steps to Israel in order to stop the violence against Palestinian civilians and called on both sides to contain it to prevent the current situation from getting out of control.
Meanwhile, the Palestine ambassador to the UN, Riad Mansur, denounced Israel's campaign of violence and terror against the Palestinian people and how it is used by Tel Aviv authorities to win votes in the upcoming elections.
