Caracas_ Specialists from the National Electric Corporation of Venezuela (Corpoelec) continue working on Thursday to completly restore this service, after fixing more than 80 percent of it following the sabotage that severely damaged the Simon Bolivar Hydroelectric Power Plant, El Guri, in Bolivar state, Prensa Latina reports.
Thanks to Corpoelec's experience, electricity is guaranteed, said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who confirmed that a rifle was used to cause fire in the transmission yard of the plant.
During a telephone contact with the 'Con el Mazo Dando' program on Wednesday, Maduro said that the attack was intended to leave the nation without electricity for several weeks.
The inquiries also state that a sniper is probably involved, denounced the head of State, who did not rule out internal complicity in this sabotage, perpetrated on Monday night.
A vital place for the transmission of electrical energy in the country has been set fire. An event of this kind had never occurred, so a cargo management plan is necessary in the coming days, he stressed.
Important equipment for the electrical stability was seriously damaged with this attack, so the authorities have implemented an immediate action program focused on reparing the damage caused in the main courtyard of the plant and the reconnection and distribution of electric charge in the country.
Without recess, the maneuvers ordered by the President were undertaken with results achieved in record time on Monday, according to an official statement released by the Executive.
Barely four hours after the attack, cargo reconnection and distribution began progressively until Tuesday night, more than 85 percent of the territory was fully recovered.
However, on Wednesday morning there was a failure and partial fall of the electrical system due to the instability caused by the fire damage.
In this regard, the president said that the specialists will complete the restoration of electricity in the coming days.
