Beijing: China said on Thursday that its team and counterparts from the United States reviewed matters like the protection of intellectual property and tariffs, which were pending from the latest round of trade negotiations, which are on their way to a much-wanted agreement, Prensa Latina reports.
Trade Ministry Spokesman Gao Feng told a news conference that the heads of both delegations, Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu He and US Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin, and Deputy Trade Representative Jeffrey Gerrish discussed those issues over the telephone.
'The parties will maintain close communication and will spare no efforts to continue with the talks,' the spokesman added.
He recalled that during recent talks in Washington, they discussed the content of the agreement and made progress in the protection of intellectual property rights, technology transfer, agriculture, non-tariff measures, trade balance, services and exchange rates, among other issues.
After the meeting, on April 5, US President Donald Trump told reporters about the possibility of reaching the much-wanted trade deal with China in four weeks, as a result of which there might be a summit with President Xi Jinping.
