Tehran: Iran estimated ridiculous the assertions of the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, about alleged interference of the Islamic Republic in the internal affairs of Venezuela, Prensa Latina reports.
A communiqué from the Iranian chancellery published today reveals that the real objective of the United States in Latin America is to turn it into its backyard and return to the times of the 19th century.
According to the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Mousavi, the Latin American peoples awoke and the wheel of time does not go back.
Mousavi responded to Pompeo's comments about alleged Iranian financial interference in South America, especially in Venezuela.
"While the Iranian specialists are trying to improve the water and electricity systems at the request of the government of Caracas, the United States has looted 30 billion dollars from Venezuela," the spokesman said.
Republican magnate Donald Trump orders blockades to food and drug to cause a riot against elected president Nicolas Maduro, he noted, evidence of flagrant and arrogant interference in Venezuela's internal affairs.
