Seoul: The Unification Minister of South Korea, Kim Yeon-chul here today asked the diplomatic representatives of China and Japan for their support for peace in the Korean peninsula, Prensa Latina reports.
Kim held separate meetings on Wednesday with the Asian giant's ambassador to Seoul, Qiu Guohong, and Yasumasa Nagamine, who is heading the Japanese diplomatic headquarters in this capital, the Yonhap agency reports.
At the meetings, both the South Korean diplomat and his guests praised President Moon Jae-in's efforts to improve relations with his northern neighbors and mediate negotiations with the United States.
These meetings of the Unification Minister take place while Seoul seeks to hold a fourth summit between Moon and the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong-un, in an attempt to advance the denuclearization talks between Pyongyang and Washington.
This week, the South Korean leader said that he will exhaust all possible efforts to carry out that meeting regardless of the place or the format.
