La Paz: The new Chaco Este-X2 hydrocarbon well entered into exploitation on Friday in Villamontes, department of Tarija, with the presence of Bolivian President Evo Morales, members of the Cabinet and representatives of the sector, Prensa Latina reports.

With a depth of 3,200 meters and a projection of 10,000 barrels per day, the beginning of operation in the exploratory well in the autonomous province of Gran Chaco generates great expectations because it will prove the potential and improve the work of prospecting and production of hydrocarbons, according to a report by the state television Bolivia TV.

It is also about the development of the crude reservoir in Tupambi and gas in Escarpment and San Telmo, in that territory, which will also increase the country's proven reserves, according to the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

Speaking at the event in Villamontes, President Morales reaffirmed that the changes and awakening of Bolivia in recent years were the result of the struggles of workers and social organizations.

'If we talk about the future, we are thinking about future generations, and Bolivia has a great investment plan to continue growing economically,' he asserted.

Morales considered that the continuity of the Process of Change is the responsibility of all Bolivians, in allusion to the future of the nation that is being played in the general elections of Oct. 20, in which the conservative right is betting on the return to the neoliberal regime.

After the presentation of the benefits of the new well and the plant, three contracts were signed on Friday between the state-owned company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales de Bolivia and Vintage Petroleum Boliviana Company.
