Caracas_ Venezuelan Doris Infante, secretary general of the Victims'' Association (Asovic), of the April 2002 coup accused the Archbishop of Caracas, Jorge Urosa Savino, of inciting violence in several catholic churches of Venezuela, Prensa Latina reports.
Infante, who lost a leg as a result of a shot during the bloody events that occurred 15 years ago in the capital Llaguno bridge, emphasized that temples should be part of peace and to remember in prayer to Jesus Christ in the Easter season, and not to incite violence.
Several representatives of social movements confirmed that during the Mass celebrated yesterday in the Basilica of Santa Teresa, Cardinal Urosa Sabino used his investiture to issue 'a divisive speech and charged with political proselytism in favor of the coup plan' run by the Venezuelan right against the Bolivarian government.
Deputy Juan Carlos Alemán, in an interview with VTV, repudiated these statements by the Catholic archbishop during the liturgy, after calling the vandal acts committed by violent groups at the service of the opposition ultra-right in different cities of the country against private and public heritage as 'peaceful demonstrations.'
By its part, the Jesuit priest Numa Molina called on the representatives of the Catholic Church, who should promote dialogue among the people.
'The first term of the bishops is to address the people and engage and promote dialogue with them,' said Molina during an interview in the program En tres y dos, broadcast by VTV.
Last Wednesday, at the end of the homily of Cardinal Urosa Savino, violent groups, encouraged by Maria Corina Machado and the right-wing deputy Richard Blanco, created disorders within the church, which forced the authorities to intervene to restore order.
