Havana, Cuba_ The recent opening of the Seychelles embassy in Cuba, the country's first in Latin America and the Caribbean, is now a sign of the consolidations of ties between the two nations, Prensa Latina reports.
So was expressed by President Danny Faure on his arrival to the Island at the beginning of his official visit.
During his stay in Havana, Faure paid homage to Cuban National Hero José Martà in the homonymous Memorial of the José Martà Revolution Square and was received by his Cuban counterpart, Raúl Castro.
He also exchanged with the President of the Parliament of the Greater of the Antilles, Esteban Lazo.
He also visited centers of interest such as the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro KourÃ, dedicated to the investigation of communicable diseases and the study for its control.
The African president showed his interest in collaborating with Cuba in the area of the Civil Defense during a dialogue he held with officials of that body.
As a result of this meeting he announced the intention to create an institution in Seychelles to deal with natural disasters, for which he called for Cuban collaboration in that area.
Faure thanked the Cuban body for preserving the lives of citizens in cases of disaster.
During his stay in Cuba, he reiterated his gratitude to the Caribbean nation for contributing to the development of Seychelles, especially in health, and recognized the role of Cuban doctors in improving their country's health care system.
