Beijing__ The Venezuelan embassy here has begun meetings with personalities from government entities and think tanks in China to report on the process of convening a National Constituent Assembly by President Nicolás Maduro, Prensa Latina reports.
According to the diplomatic headquarters of the South American country, Ambassador Ivan Antonio Zerpa met with the director general of the Latin American and Caribbean Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Zhu Qingqiao, and with the president of the Chinese Institute of Contemporary Internationals Relations (Cicir), Ji Zhiye.
During both separate appointments, Zerpa, constitution in hand, exposed the legal basis and full legality of the initiative of the Venezuelan head of state.
The meetings were conducive for the representatives of these important authorities in the People's Republic of China, to clear their doubts and have a broader idea about the coming constituent process in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Both Zhu and Ji thanked the explanation of Ambassador Zerpa and agreed that the call made by President Nicolás Maduro has sufficient legal and constitutional basis.
The legal and legitimate nature of the call for a National Constituent Assembly, by President Nicolás Maduro with the purpose of exhorting the sovereignty, participation and role of the Venezuelan people to discuss together issues that concern the nation, is an indisputable right, Zerpa added.
He recalled that the Bolivarian Revolution, under the leadership of Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez FrÃas, has always had the constituent principle as a fundamental pillar.
On May 2, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang expressed in a press conference when asked about the implementation of a National Constituent Assembly in Venezuela that the key to solve the current problem of that nation is in the hands of its people.
In addition, the spokesman advocated for the stability of that South American country, as well as for its social and economic development.
Experts consider that the National Constituent Assembly is the correct mechanism to solve the controversies in Venezuela, strengthen democracy and neutralize violence as a political tool, as well as defending the State against the actions of opposition sectors that maintain the confrontation against the Bolivarian government.
