Rome__ Protests against the G-7 financial summit in the Italian region of Apulia, some 480 kilometers southwest of Rome, begin today in Bari with diverse actions, Prensa Latina reports.

The ministers of finance and central bank governors of the seven member countries of the group, directors of the European Union and international financial institutions attend the preparatory meeting of the appointment of heads of state or government to be held on May 26 and 27 in Sicily.

A wide range of movements, associations, unions and political groups with representation in that territory are the promoters of the actions against the meeting, the first of which will be an open assembly summoned by the committee 'G-7 in Bari.

The demonstration will take place in Césare Battisti square, in the open microphone mode, with the participation, of the MEP Eleonora Forenza, among others, who called to defend the right to protest, while urging to condemn 'this new and useless catwalk of the powerful of the planet.'

By its part, the Communist Refoundation Party joined the call and denounced the representatives of the G-7, whom it considered responsible for the economic crisis that generates poverty, war, and migration.

They would like a silent and immobile city to serve as the setting for their expensive meeting, they call it security, but the danger is their policies, true attacks against work, environment and the dignity of millions of people, says a statement from that organization published on their website.

Other actions are planned in different spaces for the next two days, which will conclude with a march that its organizers predict will be multitudinous.
