Washington__ US President Donald Trump has written a new chapter of confrontation with the media after criticism against the White House over the lack of accuracy of its spokesmen, Granma newspaper reports.

"As a very active head of state with many things going on, it is not possible for my substitutes to stand on the podium with perfect accuracy," he said in his Twitter account.

"Maybe it would be best to cancel all future press briefings and deliver written responses for the sake of accuracy?" Trump, whose relationship with newspaper companies has been complex since his stage as a candidate, questioned.

Trump's reaction is linked to inconsistencies that the media pointed out to the government regarding the dismissal last Tuesday of former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey.

At first, the White House’s spokesmen said the move was made on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, PL said.

One day after the impeachment, presidency officials said Trump was contemplating firing Comey for a long time, but he made the final determination after listening to Sessions and Rosenstein.

Publications such as The Hill portal indicated that the president's assertion on Thursday not only contradicted his own letter of dismissal, but that expressed by Vice President Mike Pence, and White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The latter held in one of the usual meetings with the press that the former FBI had lost the confidence of federal agency workers, and that he had the investigation of the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election as a secondary issue.

During an appearance on Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, interim FBI Director Andrew McCabe contradicted Sanders' comments.

In response, the spokeswoman acknowledged that she had informed reporters about Comey's dismissal using incomplete information, but insisted that the administration's account of the issue has remained constant, despite a number of contradictions.

A recent survey by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut found that 58 percent of respondents criticized the media coverage given to the Trump government.
