Mayabeque, Cuba_ Self-employment in San Nicolás continues adding wills, so far this year more than 700 people have confirmed the validity of this option as a source of employment and production of goods and services for the population.

The constructor Ramón Rodríguez is one of the self-employed workers who with his labor offers benefits to the economy of the municipality.

"We make roof tiles, joists, benches, wash rooms, plateaus which are sold in the stores that sell these products at an affordable price," Rodríguez said.

In the last eight years, the exercise of self-employment in Cuba has maintained an upward trend, supported by figures that go from just over 157,000 in 2010 to 589,000 in 2018, the latter figure representing 13 percent of those currently employed in the country.
