Mayabeque, Cuba: The workers of the Basic Unit of Agricultural Production (UBPC) Abel Fernández de Nueva Paz, are making efforts to meet the estimate foreseen for the current sugar harvest.

The president of that base organization, Ricardo Rojas, said that at the moment they are at 68 percent compliance of the plan, being still missing a total of 7 thousand tons of cane, from an estimated of 22 thousand as a whole , "If the weather conditions improve we can meet with the cane that exists in the field”, he added.

The attention to the man is a priority and for it they diversified agricultural productions to contribute with the self-supply of the UBPC.

"We have a total of 3 caballerias of rice that we are planting to supply both the workers' dining room and our workers, in addition to the planting of other grains, as well as foodstuffs, such as bananas and sweet potatoes, which we sow in a staggered way to obtain daily productions for the satisfaction of our workforce and their families”, he added.

This grassroots organization brings together some 82 associates, also immersed in the rice harvest, in which the expected results are obtained.
