Mayabeque, Cuba: In the municipality of Madruga, the authorities evaluate strategies to increase the delivery of pork to the industry, affected by the lack of imported feed, which has brought about a considerable increase in prices.

It is urgent to stimulate the sowing of food for the raising of these animals, to elaborate criollo feed and to ponder the use of the palmiche and the corn among others.

The porcine entity in the territory also works in the generalization of the best experiences of the most outstanding producers, by means of the training and the assessing of specialists of the program of local agricultural innovation.

The scarcity of pork and the excessive prices affect the population of the territory and the gastronomy, as it limits the processing of derivatives such as bacon and others in the processing center.

The crisis in imported feeds as a result of the country's economic limitations is the main obstacle to the fulfillment of the contracts between the porcine entity and the producers and, given this reality, the use of alternatives, applying  good practices and greater control with the destiny of the meat, stand out as essential measures for the recovery of this line of agriculture.
