Mayabeque, Cuba_ The mechanized platoon of the Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA by its Spanish initials) Alberto Torres, from the municipality of Güines, arrived at the million arrobas of cane cut in the present sugar harvest.

The work continues in the more than 426 hectares of land used for this crop, where they use mechanization for harvesting.

To date in 278 hectares, the yield is 51.5 for a production of around 14 thousand 200 tons of the cane they send to the tandem of the Hector Molina Riaño sugar mill in San Nicolás to obtain the grass.

This exportable item is of vital importance for the sustainability and development of the national economy, taking into account also its derivatives, Albert Fernández Larrinaga, the best worker of the sugarcane platoon, said.

The sugar industry supplies raw sugar, refines it and as a by-product it generates final honeys for animal consumption and the elaboration of alcohol, torula yeast and others.

To achieve greater agricultural efficiency, the worker collective of the Cooperative Alberto Torres, of Güines, challenges the technological backwardness, the obsolescence and the deterioration of the machinery used in the field.
