Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Institute of Animal Science (ICA) was created in 1965 on the initiative of the eternal Commander of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz in the territory that today occupies the capital municipality of the province of Mayabeque, San José de las Lajas.

Fifty-five years after its creation, executivest and workers of the institution which belongs to the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) make public a campaign whose main objectives are to recognize scientists, founders and those who stand out for the rich and upward trajectory at the service of the entity.

In the course of a year and a half the program of activities includes the link of all the components of the ICA, an argument offered to Radio Mayabeque Digital by the Director of Marketing, Dr. Raúl Cobo Cuña, who announced the first actions for more than half century of existence.

The men and women who work in the research center were called to a contest aimed at making the Logo and the Slogan for the 55th birthday.

On April 16 there will be the "Encounter with History", a special moment where founders, retirees, current staff and young people will converge in order to revive the history of the Institute of Animal Science, during the last 11 decades.

The ICA is dedicated to the study of food alternatives, animal management and genetics for Cuba and the tropical area, has laboratories equipped for biochemistry, physiology, new food evaluation, analytical chemistry, microbiology and tissue culture.

The Institute has highly qualified researchers, of whom more than 60 percent are Doctors in Sciences, who carry out different investigations related to the integral development of Cuban livestock.
