Mayabeque, Cuba: The Ironworks and Galvanization Plant, the only one of its kind in Cuba, located in Nueva Paz, maintains a stable production rhythm in 2019. Dedicated to the manufacture of ironworks for the Electric Unión (UEN by its Spanish initials), the entity exceeds its sales plans so far this year, its director, Engineer Aldo Estrada, corroborated.

"At the end of March, of a plan of 1 841 100 pesos, we have achieved productions with a value of 1,851,899 pesos, which gives us a compliance of approximately 101 percent. In these moments they elaborate the table structures of the photovoltaic parks, among other assortments.

Journalist: Where do you get the raw material with which you process these elements for the National Electric Union?

Aldo Estrada: What we basically produced are the metallic structures and the ironworks for lines, is material that is imported from faraway places, in this case, China.

J: In relation to the quality of what is produced here, who check it and how do they value it?

AE: We have a Department that is in charge of certifying the productions, besides, these, that are practically for the UEN, are accepted by the buyers, which are all the Electric Companies of the country, they are our main clients.

The fact that the Hardware and Galvanization Plant is the only one of its kind in the country, induces to maintain the efficiency for the operation of the generating sources and national electric grid systems. The labor force employed there comes mainly from Nueva Paz, a municipality located about 77 kilometers from Havana, the capital of Cuba.
